I beg to forward the accompanying aarligation from Mr. Stevenson and would further beg that it may receive
your favourable consideration.
Mr. Stevenson, during the 4 years he has been in this sub-department, has carried out his duties in an exemplary manner. The Electrical work of the department during this period has increased to such an extent that his positione is now one of considerable responsibility
and importance.
The following facts, I trust, will give some idea of the Electrical work dealt with by this office and
for which he is immediately responsible:-
The number of workmen on the Electrical Staff le at present 43. This number,however, varies with the work, as many as 64 having been employed for a considerable period.
In addition to ordinary maintenance work, a great deal of new work has been executed, installations having been carried out in 72 Government buildings since 1912, being an inorease of 62% on the buildings then electrically lighted.
The Electrical Staff also deals with the maintenance of the following, including any additions or repairs:·
Cables to Gap Rook, Waglan, Kowloon & Green Island.
Electric Lifts.
Fans, of which there are over 600 at present.
All Medical apparatus including X-ray.
Lightning Conductors and other fittings.
Typhoon Lights.
Power Motore at Quarry, Market, &0.
